Abstract of research project:

Working title: “Historical development and market strategies of japanese convenience stores.”

The dissertation investigates the expansion of convenience stores (CVS) in Japan focusing on the historical development and the strategic actions as well as the effect on the society and customer structure in the retail market. The research incorporates several CVS chains, which are compared regarding their different strategies along with the chances and risks involved. In addition, the possibility of a successful implementation of the CVS system in Germany is investigated in consideration of the results and findings provided by the research in Japan.
