Amarmend Sainbayar is a doctoral researcher in the program Just and Sustainable Transformation (JUST) at the University of Kassel. Her dissertation is entitled “The Right to Non-Discrimination and Equal Treatment of Persons with Disabilities and Related Policies: A Comparative Study of Germany and Japan”.

Her research focuses on Article 5 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the right to equality and non-discrimination and its implementation in the legal systems of Germany and Japan. It examines current laws, policies, and their practical application in the fields of employment and social protection of persons with disabilities, with the aim of identifying opportunities and limitations within the respective legal frameworks. Articles 27 (work and employment) and 28 (adequate standard of living and social protection) of the CRPD serve as central benchmarks in this analysis.

By comparing the two countries, the study highlights good practices, identifies policy gaps, and seeks to contribute to the advancement of inclusive and equitable policies. During her stay at the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo, she will focus particularly on analyzing Japan’s implementation processes.
