Felix Dröll studied law at Goethe-University Frankfurt. In 2021 he passed the first state examination with distinction. After graduating he became a researcher at Goethe-University’s Chair of Japanese Law (Professor Bälz). There he has taught seminars about law and society in Japan, legal transfer in Japan and the foundations of law.

As a doctoral student he is researching the development of the abuse of right doctrine in German and Japanese law. The research focuses on the conflict of case-by-case justice and legal certainty and on how civil law methodology, i.e. the way of judicial reasoning, can be used as a way of resolving this conflict. For this research he will conduct expert interviews with professors and other actors such as judges and lawyers to better understand the practical application as well as the theoretical background of the principle in Japan.
