Jennifer Lechner is a Master’s student at the University of Oslo and is currently enrolled in the programme “Modern International and Transnational History”, after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Japan Studies and History at the University of Heidelberg. Her research focuses on the implications and effects of imperialism, colonialism, and on women’s movements. During her internship at the DIJ she is supporting Dolf-Alexander Neuhaus and David M. Malitz in the research cluster “Japan Transregional”. Within this cluster she is part of the project “Transforming Empire: Japanese technical assistance and education in postwar Asia”. In the course of her stay at the DIJ she will focus on supporting the project through archival and library research, further developing the analysis of transnational processes through Official Development Assistance and discourses on Japan’s self-perception in relation to Asia in the Cold War Era.
