Alissa Kacs is a doctoral candidate at the University of Bonn. She specialises in business administration topics, particularly work culture and digital transformation in Japan. Her doctoral thesis examines the use of generative AI within Japanese companies, including software such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Deepseek. In addition, she also looks at generative AI projects by Japanese companies and the Japanese government’s support in this area.

In addition to extensive literature research, she will also conduct field research. Experts from the academic community, as well as organisations such as associations and trade unions, will be interviewed. Of course, interviews will also be conducted with employees and managers of Japanese companies.

The aim of the dissertation is to provide an overview of how the introduction of a technological innovation, in this case generative AI, affects the Japanese corporate world. In particular, the concept of technology acceptance will be examined and the opportunities and risks faced by people working in Japanese companies will be presented.
