Harald Kümmerle

Seit Januar 2020
Harald Kümmerle studierte zunächst Mathematik und Informatik an der Technischen Universität München, anschließend Japanologie und Japanisch als Fremdsprache an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg und der Keio-Universität Tokyo. Ebenfalls in Halle promovierte er in Japanologie mit einer Arbeit zur „Institutionalisierung der Mathematik als Wissenschaft im Japan der Meiji- und Taishō-Zeit“, die unter an derem aus einem Aufenthalt als Gastwissenschaftler an der deutschen Nationalen Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina und als Junior Visiting Researcher der Keiō-Universität hervorgegangen ist. Am Deutschen Institut für Japanstudien forscht er schwerpunktmäßig zum Diskurs um die digitale Transformation in Japan; von besonderem Interesse ist für ihn der Datenbegriff. Er greift hierbei auf Mittel der Digital Humanities zurück, insbesondere auf Themenmodelle.
