Maren Godzik is a senior research fellow at the DIJ since November 2006. She has been working on the changes of elderly housing in the time of the ageing of the Japanese society. Special attention is focused on alternative (communal) forms of housing and living. One of the approaches used is qualitative interviews with residents. On the basis of their housing histories reasons for their choosing new forms of living are explored.
